4MLinux 32.0 Released: New Software for Developers and More


Back within the end of 2019, the 4MLinux Beta version was released. Following the event roadmap, a replacement stable version 4MLinux 32.0 is finally out. After two minor updates in 31 series, v32.0 is here with major updates and new features.

4MLinux may be a small and independent Linux variant to serve the overall purpose activities. This distribution features the applications mainly for the upkeep , multimedia, mini server, and classic games.


4MLinux 32.0 Released: New Software for Developers and More


4MLinux may be a small, independent, general-purpose Linux distribution with a robust specialise in the subsequent four "M" of computing :-


  • Maintenance (system rescue Live CD).
  • Multimedia (full support for an enormous number of images, audio and video formats).
  • Miniserver (DNS, FTP, HTTP, MySQL, NFS, Proxy, SMTP, SSH, and Telnet).
  • Mystery (meaning a set of classic Linux games).

The status of the 4MLinux 32.0 series has been changed to STABLE. Edit your documents with LibreOffice 6.4.2.1 and GNOME Office (AbiWord 3.0.4, GIMP 2.10.18, Gnumeric 1.12.46), share your files using Drobox 91.4.548, surf the web with Firefox 73.0.1 and Chromium 79.0.3945.130, send emails via Thunderbird 68.5.0, enjoy your music collection with Audacious 3.10.1, watch your favourite videos with VLC 3.0.8 and mpv 0.30.0, play games powered by Mesa 19.3.0 and Wine 5.2.

You can also setup the 4MLinux LAMP Server (Linux 5.4.17, Apache 2.4.41, MariaDB 10.4.12, PHP 5.6.40 and PHP 7.3.14). Perl 5.30.1, Python 2.7.17, and Python 3.7.5 also are available.

As always, the new major release has some new features. Better support for Intel video cards (via Mesa 3D drivers with VDPAU emulation). PCManFM in 4MLinux can now create video thumbnails (using FFmpeg) also as PS/PDF thumbnails (using ImageMagick). AV1 video decoding is finally available out of the box (via FFmpeg with the dav1d library).





The minimum requirements for 4MLinux (64-bit) are:

  • 128 MB of RAM when 4MLinux is installed to a HDD.
  • 1024 MB of RAM when 4MLinux is run as a live CD/USB.

The minimum requirements for 4MServer (64-bit) are:

  • 256 MB of RAM when 4MServer is installed to a HDD.
  • 2048 MB of RAM when 4MServer is run as a live CD/USB.


4MLinux 32.0: New Enhancements

If you’re a software developer, 4MLinux brings new source code editors like SciTE and command-line GNU nano. Moreover, you can also download the Vim editor as an extension.


Along with code writing, you can find out the LAMP server for web development with updated software. Here are some applications with their new version:

  • Apache 2.4.41
  • MariaDB 10.4.12
  • PHP 5.6.40 & PHP 7.3.14
  • Python 2.7.17 & Python 3.7.5

Among the general-purpose applications, you can edit, share and email your documents using LibreOffice 6.4.2.1, Drobox 91.4.548 and Thunderbird 68.5.0.

Serving the Linux gamers, 4MLinux 32.0 enhances the classic gaming experience with the newest tools like Mesa 19.3.0 and Wine 5.2. With NVIDIA supported video interface VDPAU and Mesa 3D drivers, it further improves Intel video card support.

How To Download 4MLinux?

Since 4MLinux may be a miniature distribution, it can run on a minimum of 128MB RAM to 1024MB counting on the installation media.
