How to Crack Encrypted Hash Password - Using John The Ripper


John the Ripper is a most favourite password cracking tool of many pentesters testers. It is a free and Open Source software,Initially developed for the Unix operating system but now it runs on most of the different platforms like Unix, DOS, Win32, BeOS, and OpenVMS.

It is one of the most popular password testing and breaking programs as it combines a number of password crackers into one package, autodetects password hash types,MD5, and includes a customizable cracker.John the Ripper can use is the dictionary attack and also offers a brute force mode. It takes text string samples (usually from a text file, called a wordlist, containing words found in a dictionary or real passwords cracked before), encrypting it in the same format as the password being examined (including both the encryption algorithm and key), and comparing the output to the encrypted string.

Step 1:-Generate a MD5 Encrypted Hash Text.
