A 9-Year-Old Applies For A Job As Planetary Protection Officer

NASA has a position available as a Planetary Protection Officer. The work is basically based on "protecting the Earth from biological and biological contamination in human space exploration and robotics".

Saving Earth can be a tricky job, but Jack Davis claims to be fully qualified to do so. He is nine years old but has seen all the space and aliens films and also the Marvel Agents of the Shields series. In addition, it is great with video games and, being young, it is still in time "to learn to think like an Alien."

Jack Davis signs his letter to NASA as a Guardian of the Galaxy that is exactly what the space agency is looking for its vacant post. His ability to think like an Alien was already noted by Davis is sister, whom he names in his letter: "One of the reasons for which I am prepared for the job is that my sister says I am an Alien."

The letter was published in Reddit and received numerous responses that supported the boy’s candidacy and stressed his courage to write and send a letter to NASA.

The United States Space Agency could not sit idle at such a tender proposition and this Friday, Aug. 4, planetary science director Jim Green sent a letter of response to Jack Davis, in addition to calling him personally to thank him for his Interest in the vacancy. The letter was published today in a NASA statement and here is what the letter states:-

"Dear Jack,

I heard that you are a Guardian of the Galaxy and that you are interested in being a Planetary Protection Officer. That’s cool!

Our vacancy for Planetary Protection Officer is very cool and is a very important job. It is about protecting the Earth from tiny microbes when we bring samples of the Moon, asteroids or Mars. It is also about protecting other planets and moons from our germs as we explore the Solar System.

We are always looking for bright future scientists and engineers to help us, so I hope you study hard and do well in school. We hope to see you here at NASA one of these days!”

Jack Davis has not gotten the job but has been heard by the United States Space Agency. In addition to having a response after applying for the vacancy, which will probably have achieved few candidates, the Galaxy Guardian has received a letter that will surely keep for many years.
